Bluebird Farm is a diversified vegetable and livestock farm located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and in its 11th year of production. Marie and William believe that food should be grown with biological methods that improve the health of the land, plants, and animals while sustaining the farmers that grow your food. Our greatest passion is to grow delicious food for you and your family while caring for the land.
Bluebird Farm raises vibrant vegetables, farm meats, and eggs using techniques that improve the health of our land and contribute to a diverse farm ecosystem. Our meat animals are fed certified organic grains. We are dedicated to building living soils to ensure the quality of our vegetables and animals. We are proud to provide all of our customers with high-quality, ethical food while contributing to a healthy environment and our community.
We raise about 4 acres of ecological, organic vegetables and rotational grass-based livestock fed certified organic grains on about 50 acres. We incorporate cover crops, vegetable rotation, and integrated on-farm livestock fertility in our methods. Tomato, cucumber, and greens production in several season extension high tunnels. Multi-species livestock systems with small sheep flock, a large pastured layer flock in wagon coop, 60 hogs, 8 sows with 16 litters of piglets/year, 12 pastured beef, and a livestock guardian dog. William and Marie work full time on the farm.
